For Jimmy Garrison: this improvisation on electric mandolin is dedicated to Jimmy Garrison for his amazing virtuosity and lyricism.

The Invisible Heart Machine for Holger Czukay: this piece came directly after listening to a few hours of Holger Czukay's solo music for the first time. the maximalist sense of humor of his collages gave me permission to add as many layers as i felt like. instrumentation: e-mandolin, harmonica, e-guitar, e-bass, saxophone, processing

Novelty Induced Hallucination: i attended the first night of the Alvin Lucier Festival on 5/12/22 at University of Baltimore. the festival was essentially my first exposure to Lucier's music (i listened to 'I am Sitting in a Room' the week of the concert). what struck me about Lucier's music was something like its commitment to foregrounding principles, whether acoustic architectural personal vernacular. this piece was a direct response to 'Silver Streetcar for the Orchestra' and was performed on two electric mandolins struck with two pieces of metal (a brass slide and a quarter).
